OK, so we all know that Pearl Harbor Day isn’t a holiday right? Thankfully now I do, but when I was a kid, I had no idea.

I remember seeing Pearl Harbor Day on the calendar and, assuming it was just another holiday, would wish everyone I saw that day “Happy Pearl Harbor Day” to all the adults at school or church or wherever I happened to be that day. And it is so weird, that NOBODY ever once wished me Happy Pearl Harbor Day back.

So, of course I wasn’t alive 65 years ago for the real Pearl Harbor Day, so I don’t exactly know what it was like, but from everything I’ve ever read or heard or seen, it was kinda like 9/11 was to my generation. Not exactly the type of thing you go around spreading cheer about.

So… if anyone ever comes up to you and wishes you a “Happy 9/11 Day”, and it’s a kid, take it easy on him. He’s probably just as ignorant as I was then. But if it is adult, punch him in the face.
